Abstract

1300857 Textile treating apparatus FERENTZI & KESSLER 2 April 1971 8586/71 Heading D1L A drum 1 for treating materials, such as skin's, with liquids to perform operations such as steeping, washing, tanning or dying of the materials has screens 4 comprising plates extending axially along and radially in from the drum wall each with a curved screen member on one side of it, and attached to it, which member has blade members fixed to its concave side which are in a helical direction and serve to transport the materials along during one sense of rotation of the drum. On reversal of this rotation the radially projecting plates serve to lift the materials and drop them back into the liquid. Annular partitions 19 to 21 divide the drum into chambers through which the materials pass, these partitions being hollow and having inlets and outlets so that liquid is transferred from one compartment to the other as the drum rotates. The liquid is conveyed in the opposite direction to the materials (when the drum is rotated in the conveying direction).
