Abstract

1300845 Gas blast circuit breakers BROWN BOVERI & CO Ltd 31 March 1970 [1 April 1969] 15312/70 Heading H1N A gas supply system is arranged to ensure that the pressures in a gas blast circuit breaker are maintained within safe limits. The switchgear comprises high pressure HD and low pressure ND compartments communicating through the blast valve V s , and normally the desired pressures are maintained through reducing valves V 2 , V 1 connected to a buffer vessel P in which the pressure is above the normal working high pressure. This pressure is obtained by a pump K, through filters Fi, drawing gas from the low pressure region ND. However, if the pressure in the region ND falls too low for satisfactory insulation an electromagnetically operated valve V m closes. Undesirably high pressure in either of regions HD, ND is prevented by safety valves V 3 , V 5 respectively. A similar safety valve V 6 is connected to the storage vessel P, and, additionally, a reserve supply vessel F, connected through a reducing valve V 4 serves to compensate for any gas losses from the system.
