Abstract
1,256,749. Steam turbines. TOKYO SHIBAURA DENKI K.K. July 15, 1969 [July 15, 1968], No.35620/69. Heading F1T. [Also in Division G3] The fluid path between an electrically operated servo valve 21 and a servo-motor 13 controlling a valve 4 regulating the steam supply to a turbine 1 is interrupted by a valve 24 when a cut-off valve 49 receives an emergency trip signal. Dangerous over-speeding of the turbine or a fault in the electrical control system causes the trip signal to operate an electromagnetic device 48 on the cut-off valve which releases the pressure in a device 41 to operate the valve 24. The pressure may also be released by a regulator 51 in response to an abnormal increase in speed. Operation of the valve 24 causes the upper side of the servomotor piston to be connected to a high pressure oil line 40b and the lower side to be connected to drain port 35 so that the valve 4 is closed by the linkage 11, 10, 7, 5. In the normal position of the valve 24 the opposite sides of the piston are connected to output lines 38, 39 from the servo valve. The servo valve is supplied with highpressure flame retardant synthetic oil, such as a phosphoric ester, and the cut-off device with low-pressure turbine oil.
