Abstract

1300347 Upholstered seats GULF & WESTERN METALS FORMING CO 19 April 1971 [6 April 1970] 24303/71 Heading A4M A seat construction includes a seat portion 10 and a backrest portion 11 of basically similar construction, the seat portion 10 comprising a first pair of longitudinal, paper-wrapped wires 16, a plurality of parallel, transverse wires 18 each comprising an intermediate portion 19 wound around the longitudinal wires 16 and outwardly and upwardly extending end portions 20 secured to a second pair of longitudinal wires 21. The first pair of wires 16 are secured in U-shaped clips 28 formed in zig-zag wire springs 15a, 15b mounted on side members 13 of the seat frame. Foam material may be cast about the spring assembly to embed the end portions 20 of the transverse wires 18. (For figures see next page)
