Abstract

1299807 Pneumatic conveyers SPETSIALNOE KONSTRUKTORSKOE BJURO TRANSNEFTAVTOMATIKA 14 Jan 1971 [20 Jan 1970] 1780/71 Heading B8A A pneumatic conveyer for the simultaneous conveyance of carriers in opposite directions between spaced stations 3, 4, comprises a single pipe 5 formed in two sections 6, 7 and a by-pass section 8 formed of parallel tubes 9, 10 connecting the sections 6, 7. A switch 11, 12 arranged at opposite ends of the by-pass section alternately connects the tubes 9, 10 with the sections 6, 7. In operation, carriers 1, 2 are conveyed from respective stations 3, 4, by sources of compressed air 13, 14, with the carrier 2 arranged to reach the by-pass section 8 before the carrier 1, to thereby enable the switch 12 to be moved over Fig. 2 (not shown), and the source of compressed air 14 to be switched off to provide a straight through passage for the carrier 1. When the carrier 1 reaches the station 4, the source of compressed air 13 is switched off the source of compressed air 14 is restored and the switches 11, 12 moved over to advance the carrier 2 to the station 3. In a modification, Fig. 4 (not shown), a further source of compressed air (30) is coupled to the by-pass tubes (9), (10) and is switched on as soon as the carriers have passed each other in the by-pass section (8) and the switches 11, 12 have been moved over, thus saving time compared with the first embodiment .
