Abstract
1299768 Cooling reactors SIEMENS AG 24 Sept 1970 [27 Sept 1969] 45662/70 Heading G6C In a fast breeder reactor, liquid metal coolant flows upwards through the core and laterally inwards through the sides. The lateral flow is effected by horizontal baffles. The coolant flow lines, 5, are shaped by the horizontal perforated baffles, 6, alternate ones beingmounted in resilient ribs, 7, corrected to the thermal shield 3. A radial coolant flow into the fertile blanket 2 is directed from the space between the shield 3 and the blanket. Vortex inducing devices may be placed in the gap between 2 and 3. The baffles 6 may comprise annular support plates for fertile material elements and may be slotted radially to allow thermal expansion.
