Abstract

1299362 Universal joint E KENT 29 Dec 1969 [26 Sept 1968] 45756/68 Heading F2U A universal joint connecting two shafts 10, 12 each provided with an outwardly facing shoulder 28 (e.g. either on a rib 24 or at an increase of section as between 12 and 22) has a resilient cover 32 (e.g. of rubber or synthetic plastics) extending between the shafts and urged axially against the shoulders (e.g. by circlips 36 in grooves 30 or but nuts and locknuts screwed on to the shafts). There may be an L-section ring (56), Fig. 2 (not shown), adjacent the circlip to hold the end of the cover radially. The shoulders 28 may be undercut, as shown, or chamfered.
