Portable pressure reservoirs. - Relates to fire-extinguishers of the type in which compressed air or other gas stored in an inner receptacle is adapted to force extinguishing - liquid from the inner receptacle to the space between the inner receptacle and an outer receptacle, and thence through a discharge nozzle, and consists in an arrangement whereby escape of gas is prevented in whatever position the extinguisher may be held. The inner receptacle 6 is journaled at 7 in the ends of the outer receptacle 5, and is provided with liquid-discharge pipes 16, 17 leading from opposite ends of the inner receptacle 6 into the space between the two receptacles, which is filled with the liquid, the weight of the pipes causing the receptacle 6 to turn to keep the pipes under the liquid when the extinguisher is in an horizontal position. The pipes 16, 17 come into use alternatively, according to whether the extinguisher is upright or inverted during discharge. Compressed air is forced in by means of a pump, which is attached to a nipple normally protected by a cap 43, the nipple fitting being provided with a spring-pressed valve, which, after the desired air pressure has been attained, is held down on its seat by means of nuts 45 engaging the valve stem. The nozzle-member 21 is provided with a valve controlled by a spring-pressed thumbpiece 29. The fire-extinguishing liquid is introduced through ports normally closed by plugs 48, 49.
