1298963 Adipic acid RHONE-POULENC SA 2 Oct 1970 [6 Oct 1969] 47076/70 Heading C2C Adipic acid is prepared from a cyclohexane oxidation product obtained by the liquid phase oxidation of cyclohexane with a molecular oxygen-containing gas and without a metal catalyst, by washing the product with water, separating the aqueous phase containing 6- hydroperoxyhexanoic acid and oxidizing the acid with molecular oxygen under pressure. The product from the cyclohexane oxidation contains cyclohexyl hydroperoxide and byproducts including 6 - hydroperoxyhexanoic acid.
