1382849 Cycloalkanols and cycloalkanones BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK AG 2 June 1972 [3 June 1971] 25839/72 Heading C2C The invention comprises a process for the production of a mixture of a cycloalkanol and a cycloalkanone by oxidation of a cycloparaffin of 5-12 carbon atoms in the liquid phase at a pressure of from 5 to 25 atmospheres gauge with a gas containing molecular oxygen in the presence or absence of a heavy metal catalyst, and addition to the raction mixture after oxidation has taken place of a heavy metal salt catalyst, which decomposes hydroperoxides, and, at the same time, or subsequently, addition of an aqueous solution of an alkali metal hydroxide or carbonate, the pH of the aqueous phase in the reaction mixture being kept at 8-13 measured at 25‹ C.
