Abstract
1,165,442. Acetic acid. CHEMISCHE WERKE HULS A.G. 6 Jan., 1967 [7 Jan., 1966], No. 922/67. Addition to 1,135,628. Heading C2C. Acetic acid is prepared by the gas phase oxidation of butene with oxygen or oxygencontaining gas at an elevated temperature in the presence of titanium vanadate and/or aluminium vanadate as a catalyst. Cis-n- and trans-nbutene-(2) and n-butene-(1) pure or admixed may be the starting material and the catalyst may be in a carrier such as silicic acid, or pumice.
