Abstract
1298674 Heat-storing apparatus THERMOBAUELEMENT AG 5 June 1969 [8 Jan 1969] 28529/69 Heading F4U A heat storage body comprises a heat storage material which can absorb latent heat on transition from the solid to the liquid state and having seed crystals distributed uniformly therein which prevent the material from cooling below the melting temperature during the discharge, further substances being admixed to import to the melt a dimensional stability which prevents any change of distribution of the crystals during the melting phase of the material. The crystals may be of fibrous substances e.g. silicon dioxide, or magnesium oxide, which have a low solubility in the melt of the thermal storage material. The further substances may be organic or inorganic e.g. alginates of thermoplastic material which is immiscible with the storage substances and seed crystals, a mixture of which may be beaten into a foam or sponge-like structure in the pores of which framework structure so formed the storage substance and seed crystals are located. Additionally the thermal conductivity of the storage substance and seed crystals may be increased by the addition elongated metal particles rendered ferromagnetic or containing ferromagnetic substances. The framework structure alternatively may be formed of a metal wire not of interlinked coils.
