Abstract

1298429 Variable resistors W PREH [trading as PREH ELEKTROFUNMECHANISCHE WERKE JAKOB PREH NACHFOLGEN] 19 April 1971 [18 March 1970] 24465/71 Heading HIS A slide resistor comprises a base-plate 1 made of insulating material having a rectilinear guide slot 2 for a wiper carrier and a collector track and resistance element 3 attached to the baseplate parallel to the rectilinear guide. The resistance element is firmly attached at one end to the base-plate and to a contact 7<SP>1</SP> by means of a rivet 14. The other end of the element is freely mounted by means of a terminal member 7 under which the element slides, the terminal being connected to the base-plate by means of shoulders 15 and electrically connected to the resistance element by means of a resilient arm 8 integral with the terminal. The resistance element may be formed on a hard paper strip. In further embodiments, lateral projections 9 may be formed integrally with the resistance element which can pass under guide arms 10 (Fig. 5, not shown) formed at intervals along the length of the base-plate. Alternatively a U- shaped channel may be formed in the base-plate into which the resistance element of Fig. 3 can be slid, projections 12 (Fig. 6, not shown) on the side of the channel overlapping the portions 9 of the resistance element. In both these further embodiments the ends of the resistance element are connected as shown in Fig. 1. Several resistance elements may be mounted on the baseplate in a manner according to any of the described embodiments.
