Abstract
1284664 Variable resistors GLOBE-UNION Inc 26 Aug 1970 [13 Nov 1969] 41107/70 Heading HIS A linear variable resistor has enclosed in a metal or plastics housing 22 a dielectric base 14 carrying parallel resistive and collector elements 36, 38, and a wiping bridging contact (20, Fig. 3, not shown) fixed to a saddle shaped plastics carrier 18 which slides along the base on shoulders (78) on side members 64, 66. These side members pass out through the gaps between the sides of the base 14 and the side walls of the housing 22 to be fixed to a saddle shaped exterior slider 16 by lugs 54, 56. Studs 62 minimize the friction and area of contact between the slider and the housing, as do ribs 58 between the slider and the outside walls of the housing. The resistance element 36 may be a carbonaceous film or strip.
