1297992 Casting concrete E SCHOCK 23 Feb 1970 [24 Feb 1969] 8601/70 Heading B5A [Also in Division E1] A former, for providing an opening in a cast concrete structure to accommodate a built-in part such as a window or door, comprises a body 2, 3 of foamed synthetic resin with the built-in part 1 with projections 13 which extend from the body to be embedded in the concrete. The parts 1-3 are bound together by a strip 4 of metallic or synthetic material. The former is located in shuttering into which concrete is cast to surround the former and embed the projections; when the concrete has set the foam body is removed, e.g. by a knife. The body may have openings to accommodate retaining means on the shuttering.
