Abstract

1,062,973. Buffers. GEORGE ANGUS & CO. Ltd. June 5, 1964 [June 7, 1963], No. 23450/64. Heading B7T. [Also in Division F2] A buffer 1 of a resilient cellular material such as rubber or polyurethane is secured to a base-plate 2 of, for example, iron or steel, by the resilient material engaging in apertures 3 of the baseplate. The resilient material is moulded, cast or extruded to engage the apertures. A layer or skin 6 of homogeneous material is applied to the resilient material and sprayed on the surfaces of the apertures to provide a protective covering. The cross-sectional form of the apertures may be hyperboloid, truncated, pyramidal or conical, or stepped (Figs. 3, 4, 5, not shown). The plate 2 may be formed with convex portions about the apertures such that a cavity, subsequently filled with resilient material, is formed beneath the plate (Fig. 6, not shown).
