Abstract

A plate, having a perforated core coated with a protective layer, is formed by introducing the material 5 in liquid or semi-liquid form, into a mould 3, pressing the core 1 into the material until it emerges through the core, as shown, hardening the material and finally removing the finished product from the mould. In a modification, not shown, a first layer of material is hardened in a mould, a second layer added and, on top of that, a layer of absorbent material added. The liquid or semi-liquid material is then cast upon the absorbent layer and the core pressed therein as described above.
