Abstract

1297846 Riveting BRACKER AG 7 April 1970 [11 April 1969] 16433/70 Heading B3U A riveting apparatus comprises at least two driving elements for revolving a rivet set, the movement of one of the drive elements being adjustable independently of the other so as to vary the path of movement of the rivet set. In one embodiment, Fig. 1, a rotatable drive element 3 is connected via a flexible coupling 5 to an eccentric portion 4 which is located in an eccentric bore of a rotatable spindle 2. An eccentric pin 10 depending from the eccentric portion 4 is connected to a rivet set support 7 carrying a rivet set 6. When spindle 2 and drive element 3 are driven in opposite directions or at different speeds, the eccentric pin 10 traces a loop-shaped rosette-like path. In another embodiment, Fig. 2, a rotatable spindle 13 mounted within the spindle 2 has an eccentric pin 15 which engages a reciprocable slide 16 carrying the eccentric pin 10. When the spindles 2 and 13 are rotated, the pin 10 is reciprocated during its revolving movement. In another embodiment, Fig. 4 (not shown), a pin (25) engaging the rivet set support is rocked about a transverse axis (23) during its revolving movement by a rotating disc (21). In a further embodiment, Fig. 6 (not shown), the eccentric pin 10 is reciprocated by a fluid actuated piston (38) whilst a shaft (34) carrying the pin 10 is rotated by a motor (50).
