Abstract
1297817 Valves CAM GEARS Ltd 19 April 1971 [6 Feb 1970] 5874/70 Heading F2V A valve for use with a fork-lift truck has a work port 207 which is connectable to an inlet 205 and an outlet 206. A spool 203 has a band 219 to control flow between the inlet and outlet and houses a ball 214 which co-operates with a seat 211 to control flow between the inlet and work port. Movement of the spool to the left by handle 215 causes the land to close off communication between the inlet and outlet so that inlet pressure moves the ball 214 off its seat and flow to the work port takes place via apertures 228 and port 227 in the spool. Movement of the spool to the right maintains communication between the inlet and outlet and also moves the ball off its seat so that flow from the work port to the outlet takes place. A differential piston 221 which is responsive to the inlet pressure on area 222 and work pressure on area 224 moves relative to the apertures 228 to control flow from the work port in inverse proportion to the pressure therein. In modifications the spool is closed-centre, the hollow spool and piston 221 are dispensed with, an adjustable stop is provided on the end of lever 215 remote from the handle. In further embodiments a closed or open centre rotary cylindrical valve member replaces the spool and an adjustable pin on an actuating wheel co-operates with a cam surface on the valve body to act as a stop. Neutral position is determined by a spring-loaded ball co-operating with a recess in the valve member.
