Abstract
1297513 Electric couplings INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT CO Ltd 12 March 1970 [13 Dec 1968] 59499/68 Heading H2E Hollow copper conductors formed as interleaved helical coils supply electric current to a superconductive winding housed in a cryostat which comprises an inner vessel contained in an outer vessel, with a vacuum maintained in the space between them. The conductors are shaped in this way so as to have a path length for heat flow to the inner vessel which is greater than the distance between the outer wall of the cryostate where the conductors pass through it and the winding. Boil-off gas from the cryogenic fluid can pass out through the hollow conductors which are clamped together to counteract the strong electromagnetic acting on them.
