Abstract

1297328 Hinge hold-open device REGIE NATIONALE DES USINES RENAULT and AUTOMOBILES PEUGEOT 19 April 1971 [10 April 1970] 26635/71 Heading E2F A hinge comprising a first forked member 2 pivoted as shown between the wings 1' of a second forked member 1 has a hold device comprising a first holding member extending between, and having a surface 11 extending beyond the free ends of the wings 2' of the member 2 and a second holding member extending between the wings 1' and having a surface facing the pivot pin 12, the arrangement being such that the two surfaces contact each other upon rotation of the members 1, 2 and one of the surfaces resiliently retracts under the contact pressure. As shown, the first holding member comprises a bar 10 and a strip 11 of brake shoe lining whilst the second holding member comprises a rod 8 engaged in slots 5 in the wings 1' extending radially from the pin 12 and urged towards the pin 12 by an arcuate leaf spring 6 engaged between the ends of the slots remote from the pin. Alternatively, the rod 8 may be immovably located whilst the bar 10 is replaced by a rod having a sleeve of elastomeric material loosely surrounding it.
