Abstract

1297214 Disazo dyes BAYER AG 19 April 1971 [12 Feb 1970] 21630/71 Heading C4P The invention comprises disazo dyes of formula wherein R 1 and R 3 represent non-ionic substituents; R 2 represents hydrogen or an alkoxy group; X is an optionally alkylated hydroxyl group or an optionally substituted amino group ; n is 0, 2 or 3 and m is 0, 1 or 2. The dyes may be prepared by coupling a diazotized aminoazo compound of formula with a compound of formula and optionally subsequently alkylating any hydroxyl groups in the produced disazo compound. In one embodiment, the dyes may be produced by diazotizing a 1-aminonaphthalene sulphonic acid of formula where Y is NO 2 or acylamino, coupling it with a phenol of formula optionally alkylating the hydroxyl group, reducing or removing the group Y and diazotizing the resulting aminoazo compound of formula and coupling it with a coupling component of Formula III above. The dyes give red or orange shades on natural and synthetic polyamide fibre materials.
