1410856 Preparation of tetrakisazo dyes BAYER AG 14 Sept 1973 [14 Sept 1972] 43235/73 Heading C4P Tetrakisazo dyes of formula wherein K is the radical of coupling component, R is a substituent and n is 0, 1, 2, 3 or 4 are prepared by diazotizing an amine of formula wherein X is the radical of an acid, and coupling it in acid medium in the presence of a coupling accelerator, in a 1 : 1 molar ratio with H-acid, coupling the monoazo dye thus obtained in alkaline medium with a diazotlized amine as specified above, hydrolyzing the NHX groups NH 2 , tetrazotizing and coupling in 1 : 2 molar ratio with coupling component KH. Specified coupling accelerators are formamide, mono- and di-methyl-formamide, acetamide, mono- and di-methyl-acetamide, sulphamic acid, guanidine, methylurea, urea, and ethers of glycols, alkylglycols, polyglycols and polyalkylglycols. They dye colour cotton and natural and synthetic polyamides in black shades.
