Abstract
1296474 Lead dioxide WESTERN ELECTRIC CO Inc 21 July 1970 [23 July 1969 27 Jan 1970] 35190/70 Heading C1A [Also in Division H1] An adherent layer of PbO 2 is formed on a surface by contact, in the presence of Ag ions, with a solution comprising Pb<SP>11</SP>, and a persulphate for oxidizing the Pb<SP>11</SP> to PbO 2 , the pH being in the range 5À0-6À9. The solution preferably contains Pb acetate, and additionally, ammonium acetate. Na, K, or NH 4 persulphate is preferably used. Preferred concentrations for the solution are: amm. acetate 1-8 M, Pb acetate 0À1-1À0 M, persulphate 1-2 M, -and Ag 5À10<SP>-5</SP>-5À10<SP>-4</SP>. An additional PbO 2 deposit may be produced by further treatment with a solution of a Pb<SP>11</SP> compound and a persulphate at pH 10-12, or with the initial solution.
