Abstract

1295723 Cable joint INDUSTRIE PIRELLI SpA 5 Oct 1970 [9 Dec 1969] 47224/70 Heading H2E A metal casing 14 between two electric cables 10<SP>1</SP> and 10<SP>11</SP> comprises two halves 14<SP>1</SP>, 14<SP>11</SP> and is at least partially provided with longitudinal corrugations to permit radial deformation of the casing so as to permit the volume of the casing to change in sympathy with expansion or contraction of filler material within the casing and surrounding the joint. For metal sheathed cables the casing is of lead or other corrosion resistant electrically conductive material and is welded at 12<SP>1</SP>, 12<SP>11</SP> to the cables. The two halves 14<SP>1</SP>, 14<SP>11</SP> interfit longitudinally and are welded together about the joint, a cap 18 permitting the entry of filler material into the casing. The casing may be generally circular, elliptical, polygonal or of any other cross-section.
