Abstract

1294932 Rotary positive-displacement fluidmotors EATON CORP 27 Feb 1970 [7 Nov 1969] 9746/70 Heading F1F In a reversible hydraulic-motor of the n and n+1 lobe type a rotary valve-member 14 in a housing end-cap 11 controls the flow of working fluid between inlet and outlet openings 12, 13 and cells 51 of a gerotor set 22 comprising a planetary rotor 48 meshing with rolls 47 in a fixed plate 44, the member 14 and rotor being coupled to an output shaft 36 by splined members 59, 64. The member 14 has pressure-balancing dummy-ports 54 between ports 58 that co-operate with openings 53 in a fixed valve-plate 18. Springs 76 on pins 75 on a non-rotary axially-movable ring 70 urge the member 14 towards the plate 18. The pins 75 engage with openings 93, which inter-connect grooves 84, 86, 88 in the face of the ring abutting the member 14. Notches 82, 92 and grooves 81, 90 allow the working fluid to assist the springs 76 in pressing the member 14 towards the plate 18. To lubricate the mutually abutting faces of the member 14 and the ring 70, bearings 37, 39, 40, 41 and the members 59, 64 a proportion of the working fluid flows from the inlet opening 12 or 13 into passages 101 by way of a notch 100 in the member 14 and the grooves 84, 86, 88. Fluid that has passed between the splines of the members 59, 64 reaches said bearings through openings 102, 103. Fluid returns from the bearings to the outlet opening 13 or 12 by way of passages 106...110 and either a bore 112 containing a spring-loaded ball 111 to act as a non- return valve, and a passage 115, or a branch passage 115, or a branch passage 117 controlled by a spring-loaded ball, and a passage (122), Fig.9 (not shown). The pressure-differential between the outlet opening and the grooves 84, 86, 88 is insufficient to allow fluid to flow to this opening from these grooves by way of the notch 100. Leakage of fluid into spaces behind the ring 70 is prevented by resilient rings 94, 97 made of P.T.F.E.
