Abstract

A reversible fluid operated motor, of the radial valve type, comprising: a generally cylindrical shaped housing; a valve box part connected to said cylindrical shaped housing, said valve box part including ports for fluid inlet and outlet; an output shaft mounted in said housing for rotation about a longitudinal axis; a displacement mechanism having expansion and contraction cells that respond to engine drive fluid; a main drive member connecting said displacement mechanism with said output shaft, whereby the movement generated in said displacement mechanism in response to the motor drive fluid is transmitted to said output shaft; a valve mounted in said part of the valve box for rotation about its longitudinal axis, said valve having a plurality of fluid conduction passages, alternate passages of those mentioned being in communication for fluid with inlet fluid and other alternate passages being in communication for fluid with outlet fluid, said valve, located in said valve box part, separating the inlet fluid from the outlet fluid and said valve having a surface opposite to a valve seating mechanism and a surface opposite to a valve plate, transverse to the longitudinal axis thereof; a valve plate located between said displacement mechanism and said valve, said valve plate having a plurality of fluid conduction passages in communication for fluid with passages of the valve and the cells of the displacement mechanism, the passages of the plate being of valves intended to conduct actuating fluid to and from the cells of the displacement mechanism, in a predetermined sequence, said valve plate having a transverse surface opposite the valve in sealing application with the surface of said valve opposite to the valve plate; a valve actuating member connecting said valve with said displacement mechanism to give it a synchronous rotation with his; a valve seat mechanism having a transverse surface opposite the valve, mounted on said valve box part for axial movement therein and with the surface opposite the valve adjacent to the surface, opposite the valve seat mechanism , of said valve, by pushing said loaded valve seat mechanism to its opposite surface to the valve upon sealing application with the surface opposite to the valve seat mechanism, said valve seat mechanism separating the inlet actuating fluid from the outlet drive fluid on the surface thereof opposite the valve, the surface opposite the valve including an inner throat in fluid communication with the drive fluid, an outer throat in fluid communication with drive fluid, and a plateau central support that separates and closes the inner throat with respect to the outer throat and that separates and closes the flow inlet with respect to the outlet fluid, whereby the inlet drive fluid, in communication with one of said inner and outer throats and which is pressurized and located between said valve seat mechanism and said valve, pushes said valve upon sealing application with said valve plate.
