Abstract

Improvements introduced into an integral servo-assisted steering assembly comprising: housing means (11, 13, 22 and 23) defining a drive cavity (12), piston means (14) movably supported within said cavity, means control valve (29) supported by said housing means (23) to control the flow of fluid under pressure to said cavity (12) and the flow of return fluid from said cavity (12) to move said piston means (14) in alternate and opposite directions, input shaft means (27) for actuating said control valve (29), outlet means (18) connected by way of actuation with said piston means (14) for movement caused by the same, mechanical means that interconnect said input shaft means (27) and said piston means (14) to move said piston means (14) in response to the rotation of said input shaft means (27) in the case of lack of fluid pressure to move said piston means (14), said mechanical means including a worm shaft (30) which extends through said piston means (14) to an end remote (47) from the themselves, characterized by intake means (44, 46, 48 and 50) that interconnect said housing means (22) and said remote end (47) of said worm shaft (30) and that are axially movable to support, rotatably, the far end in any one of several axial positions.
