1294151 Laminates O C ECKEL 2 Oct 1970 [11 March 1970] 46895/70 Heading B5N [Also in Division E1] A sound absorbing or attenuating panel comprises a supporting perimeter frame 10 formed by upper 12, lower 18 and side 24 retainers having channels 14, 20 and 26 therein and retainer covers 16, 22 and 27 enclosing or embodying the retainers, the panel further comprising a tortuous panel divider 30, layers 29a, 29b, 29c, 29d of acoustic insulating material on both sides of the panel divider and front and rear panel facings 17 and 17a on the sides of said layers remote from the panel divider, the perimeter of the panel divider being retained in said channels and the panel divider having main walls 30b with one main wall or one part thereof being closer to one of said panel facings than another main wall or another part of said one main wall, and the thickness of said layer or layers between the front panel facing and said one main wall or said one part thereof, being different from the thickness of the layer or layers between the rear panel facing and said one main wall or said one part thereof. In the embodiment shown, the retainers are of wood, the layers of acoustic insulating material of fibreglass and the facings of steel or aluminium. In an alternative embodiment, the retainers may be made partly of wood and partly of metal and the covers of plastics material. In a further embodiment, the main walls of the panel divider are parallel and at an angle to the facings.
