1293913 Railway track maintenance vehicles F PLASSER 24 Oct 1969 [25 Oct 1968] 52203/ 69 Heading E1G In a railway track maintenance vehicle carrying one or more self-centering tools 27 for actuating bolts or other rail fasteners 25, the tools are positioned by a rail-engaging guide, such as a two-wheeled bogie 10, which is common to a plurality of tool holders 22, each tool holder being connected resiliently in at least the lateral direction with the guide. As shown each rail 3 is engaged by a two-wheeled bogie 10 forming the guide, the two bogies being mounted beneath the chassis 1 of a rail vehicle Figs. 1, 2 (not shown). Each bogie 10 provides a housing 23 in which are resiliently located a pair of holders 22 for boltscrewing tools 27, the bogie being hydraulically raised and lowered on extension 19a of a column 19 depending from a support 16. The support 16 is mounted by rollers 17 and pivot 14 on a plate 12 whereby it may be swung laterally to accommodate rail curves, the plate 12 being movable along longitudinal guides 11 on the chassis 1 by means of a chain 9, whereby the plate 12 and its tools 27 can advance intermittently between fasteners 25 independently of the advance of the chassis 1. Two operator's cabins are mounted below the chassis 1 as in Specification 1293912. Location of the tool 27 on a fastener at each advanc may be facilitated by lowering a ram-actuated adjustable stop 32. In a modification, Fig. 10 (not shown), a ram-actuated stop lever (50) limits the upward movement of the tool at each advance. In a modification, dispensing with the twowheeled bogies 10, two pairs of fastener-actuating tools, Figs. 8, 9 (not shown), are suspended for adjustable and resilient lateral movement from a framework on a four-wheeled bogie suspended from a rail vehicle, their lateral position being controlled by depending rail feeler rods (46).
