Abstract

1293619 Anchoring bolts ASPORLAIN Ltd 9 Aug 1971 [15 Aug 1970] 39425/70 Heading F2H A frangible cartridge for use in anchoring a bolt in a drilled hole in rock or concrete comprises an inner rigid brittle tube 3 containing water 6, inside an outer rigid brittle tube 1, with a mixture of portland cement and high alumina cement in the space between the tubes 1, 3, readily frangible end seals, e.g. of polyester resin, closing the ends of the tubes 1, 3. The tubes may be of glass or polystyrene. The end seals 2 of the outer tube have radial flanges 7 to engage the wall of the hole into which the cartridge is inserted. The water 6 may be mixed with a natural gum and salt compound to form a weak jelly and may also include copper slag aggregate and an alkylene oxide fatty acid or alcohol wetting agent, or an amine condensate wetting agent. The cement mixture is preferably 75% portland and 25% high alumina.
