Abstract

1292329 Air cushion shock absorbers BERTIN & CIE 22 Oct 1969 [23 Oct 1968] 51692/69 Heading F2S A load board 1 with gas-bag shock-absorbers 32 on its underside each communicating by way of throttling apertures in a partition 31 with a downwardly open chamber defined by a skirt 33, as in Specification 1,094,842, is further limited by the requirement that, in each individual bag-plus-skirt combination: where s is the sum of the areas of the apertures between the gas bag and the skirt chamber; S is the base area of the skirt chamber; D is the base diameter of the skirt chamber; S1 is the maximum cross-sectional area of the gas bag; and h is the clearance between the base of the skirt and the ground when the loaded platform is in gas-only support above the ground, i.e. operating as a ground-effect machine (hovercraft. The apparatus is otherwise very similar to that disclosed in Specification 1,094,842 and the intended Application is the same, viz. to dropping loads from aircraft.
