1488254 Vehicle suspension systems AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS Ltd 23 Dec 1974 [17 Jan 1974] 02164/74 Heading B7D In a vehicle suspension including liquid filled struts 10, 11 and 15, 16 associated with front and rear vehicle wheels respectively, each strut comprises a cylinder 12, 17 divided by a piston 13, 18 into upper and lower chambers having respectively larger and smaller cross-sectional areas, the upper chambers 10A, 11A of each front strut 10, 11 is connected by a conduit 19, 20 to the lower chamber 10B, 11B of the other front strut, by a conduit 21, 22 to the upper chamber 15A, 16A of the rear strut on the same side, and by a conduit 23, 24 to an hydraulic accumulator including a compressed gas chamber 28, 29, flow restricting devices 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, 41 are provided on the conduits to dampen the flow of liquid between the struts, and the lower chambers 15B, 16B of the rear struts 15, 16 are either connected to a common hydraulic accumulator or to separate accumulators 44, 45 as shown, or are open to atmosphere. The load of the vehicle may be supported entirely by the struts, or coil springs 48 may act in parallel with the struts.
