Abstract

1292186 Cooling alternators SOC ANON POUR L'EQUIPEMENT ELECTRIQUE DES VEHICULES SEV MARCHAL and SEV MOTOROLA SA 10 March 1970 [12 March 1969] 11376/70 Heading H2A A low power rotating electric machine, e.g. a vehicle alternator 1, has fixed to it, at a point in its ventilation circuit accessible to the user, a filter having fixed to it an electrical contact 16 which co-operates with another contact 25 to complete an electrical circuit of the machine. This may be the circuit to earth of the machine field winding, and the filter is so constructed that it can only be replaced by pulling a lug member 21 which irreparably deforms the filter elements and withdraws the contact 16; hence the machine is inhibited from working until a new filter is fitted. A fan 4, 5 impels air through the filter, past a finned element 6 containing rectifiers 7 to convert the output into D.C., and through the machine.
