Abstract

1291638 Vehicle rear-view mirror assemblies FORD MOTOR CO Ltd 23 March 1970 [3 April 1969] 13914/70 Heading B7J A vehicle rear view mirror assembly 11 comprises a first support member 15, mountable on a vehicle windshield 18 by an adhesive layer 19, and a second support member 23 interlockingly engaging the first by tongues 27 on the member 23 and grooves on the member 15, and an interconnection member 14 comprising a pair of identical metal stampings 35 rotatably mounted at one end on the second support member 23 and at the other end frictionally engaging a ball 34 mounted on an L-shaped shank 33 projecting from a mirror housing 13, thus allowing positional adjustment of the latter relative to the stampings. The interconnection member 14 is provided at one end with semi-cylindrical clamps 37 which form the rotatable mounting by engaging a concavely cylindrical post 29 projecting from the second support member, and at the other end with flanged circular apertures 38 having a diameter smaller than that of the ball 34 which they engage. The first and second support members are made of plastics and plastics or metal respectively. The positions of the tongues and grooves may be reversed on the support members.
