Abstract

1291592 Toy vehicle track MATTEL Inc 11 Nov 1969 [29 Nov 1968] 55092/69 Heading A6S A track, or roadway 10, for model vehicles 12 comprises sections 14, 16 which may be interconnected to form a complete system. Each section is of uniform cross-section and comprises an upper face portion 18 forming a vehicle guiding section 20, having flanges 26, 28 to confine to vehicle to the roadway. The width of this section may be wider than the width of the vehicle, and the flanges 26, 28 may be sloped away from the surface to reduce frictional losses between the track and the wheels of the vehicle. The track also has a lower connecting portion 30 with a face 32 under face 18 and two lower connecting walls, or flanges 36 and 38 with inward facing lips to form a slot 40, having grooves 42, 44. The walls 36, 38 generally are of an L-shaped section, which are able to receive a connector 34. The connector 34 is of a substantially flat cross-section and has protuberences 52 along each edge and depending from alternate faces. The thickness of the connector plus a protuberance is greater than half, but less than the whole width, G of the grooves 42, 44 so that when the connector is inserted into the slot 40 it adopts a sinuous form (Fig. 2-not shown) enabling effective connection to be made between two track sections.
