Abstract
1291517 Thermal regenerators FORD MOTOR CO Ltd 21 Sept 1970 [29 Oct 1969] 44821/70 Heading F4K A seal assembly for a rotary thermal regenerator comprises a metal case member 20 carrying a ceramic shoe 30 with resilient material 40, e.g. glass wool, disposed between the shoe and the base 26 of the case member. As shown the seal assembly forms the regenerator cross arm seal and is located in a groove 18 cut in a partition member 16. L-shaped clamps 44 hold the assembly in place. The upper surface of the shoe is held against the regenerator core 46 by means of a resilient leaf spring 42. In an alternative embodiment (Fig. 3) the case member housing the ceramic shoe is of truncated triangular cross-section and the lower portion of the shoe within the case member has a trapezoidal cross-section.
