Abstract

1291408 Terminals HEGO ELECTRIC GmbH 28 May 1971 18140/71 Heading H2E An electrical terminal assembly comprises an insulating body 1 having in its base a groove 6a and a retaining spring 6 for mounting the terminal on a bar 7, and which body contains a clamping screw 15 which co-operates by means of a nut 5 with a clamping member 4, rotation of the screw causing the clamping member to move transversely to the screw axis thereby enabling a conductor 11 to be clamped between an outer wall of the clamping member 4 and a generally U-shaped fixed terminal 2 accommodated in the terminal body. Similar terminals are also described which have different internal arrangements of clamping member and fixed terminal although the basic screw clamping arrangement is the same (Figs. 11-14, not shown). A further embodiment having a m odified form of clamping action (Figs. 15-18, not shown) involves a clamping pin having longitudinal teeth (53) which mesh with teeth (46) in the edge of a slot (45) formed in plates (42), revolution of the pin causing the plates to move transversely to the pin axis so as to clamp a conductor against a fixed terminal. Projections may be formed on the terminal and/or clamping members for penetrating the insulation on a conductor. These projections may be formed on separate spring members which can be attached to the fixed terminal members (Figs. 19-24, not shown). A terminal 30 may be provided for making a cross connection to another terminal or a sleeve may be fitted for receiving a test probe.
