Abstract

1291144 Stabilizing chlorine-containing polymers PFIZER Inc 21 Aug 1970 [18 May 1970] 40493/70 Heading C3P Chlorine-containing polymers, e.g. P.V.C. are stabilized with (a) a zinc salt of a mono-ester of an acid of the formula or with an alcohol ROH, where X is H, R- or RCO- and R is C 8 -C 22 alkyl or aralkyl, (b) a stannous salt of such a mono-ester and (c) a sodium and/or potassium and/or aluminium salt of such a mono-ester. Exemplified compositions also contain dipentaerythritol, 1,1,3- tris(2 - methyl - 4 - hydroxy - 5 - t - butylphenyl)- butane, dilaurylthiodipropionate, epoxidized soyabean oil, tris(nonylphenyl)phosphite, din - octyltin - S,S<SP>1</SP> - bis - (isooctylmercaptoacetate), stearic acid, polyethylene, acrylic resin, ethylene-propylene rubber, chlorinated polyethylene, ABS or MBS terpolymer, or vinyl ester ethylene-vinyl chloride copolymer. The stabilized polymer is P.V.C. or a copolymer with propylene or alkyl vinyl ether.
