Abstract

1440735 Polyethylene terephthalate compositions E I DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO 3 Sept 1974 [4 Sept 1973 2 Aug 1974] 38422/74 Heading C3R A composition comprises 99 to 95% by weight of polyethylene terephthalate and 1 to 5% by weight of a terpolymer of at least 65% by weight ethylene, at least 5% by weight of a vinyl ester of a saturated monobasic aliphatic carboxylic acid containing 1 to 6 carbon atoms and 0À1 to 10% by weight of acrylic and/or methacrylic acid. The composition may contain a nucleating agent, e.g. calcium carbonate, aluminium silicates or talc, and an opacifying agent, e.g. titanium dioxide. The examples describes a composition comprising 96% polyethylene terephthalate, 3% of a terpolymer comprising 72% ethylene, 27% vinyl acetate and 1% methacrylic acid and 1% talc, the percentage being by weight.
