Abstract
1290521 Optical filters UNITED KINGDOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY 23 Jan 1970 [31 Jan 1969] 5306/69 Heading G2J An optical filter of the Christiansen type comprises a dispersion of particles of an optically transparent solid in a further optically transparent solid in intimate contact over the surfaces of said particles, the particles having a refractive index equal to that of the further solid at the centre wavelength of a waveband to be transmitted and an optical dispersion unequal to that of the further solid at the centre wavelength. Preferably the optical dispersions diverge so the wavelength changes from the centre wavelength. The particles are of an optical glass and are dispersed in a plastics material such as polystyrene or polyvinyl naphthalene. Several examples are given of suitable glass/plastics pairs for making such filters.
