Abstract

An antiradiation filter designed as a solid state filter is used in order to achieve browning of the human skin without having to take into account the normal physiological disadvantages, such as sunburn. This filter is designed such that it blocks radiation which is shorter in wavelength than 320 nm, but preferentially passes through radiation of 320-450 nm, which is effective for direct browning, but once again largely blocks rays of wavelength longer than 450 nm. Such a filter can be constructed from various layers of inorganic glass and/or organic plastic material.
