Abstract

1290383 Polyamides UNION CARBIDE CANADA Ltd 8 Oct 1969 [9 Oct 1968] 49329/69 Heading C3R A process for preparing acid dye-receptive nylon filaments consists of:- (a) feeding a stream of polycaproamide to an extruder; (b) metering 0À3 to 1 wt. per cent of hexamethylene diamine, polyethylene imine or 2,6- dimethyl piperazine uniformly into the stream, and (c) extruding and subsequently forming a filament from said stream. The polycaproamide preferably has a Relative Viscosity of 2À6 to 2À9 (1 g./100 ml. 98% H 2 SO 4 at 20‹ C.) and to ensure uniform mixing the extruder preferably has a length/diameter ratio of at least 17 and residence time of at least 5 minutes.
