940,650. Polyamide compositions. ONDERZOEKINGSINSTITUUT RESEARCH N.V. July 28, 1960 [Aug. 7, 1959; Oct. 6, 1959; Nov. 12, 1959], No. 26311/60. Heading C3R. A method for the preparation of a casting or injection moulding composition comprises mixing a polyamide with at least one aliphatic monoamine having at least seventeen carbon atoms in the molecule as mould release agent. In the examples:-(1) #-caprolactam is polymerized in the presence of phosphonic acid, the product being admixed with (4) octadecyl amine, (5) docosyl amine, (6) tetracosyl amine, (7) didodecyl amine, (8) dioctadecylamine, (9) a mixture of didocyl amine, ditetradecyl amine, dioctyl amine, didecyl amine and dioctadecyl amine and (11) C 18 H 37 N(CH 3 ) 2 ; (II) #-caprolactam is polymerised in the presence of acetic acid and the product admixed with (a) hexadecyl amine, (b) dioctadecyl amine and (c) R-N(CH 3 )z where R is derived from coconut oil; (III) #-caprolactam is polymerized in the presence of phosphoric acid and the product admixed with (a) docosylamine and (b) R-N(CH 3 ) 2 where R is derived from soya bean oil and (IV) polyhexamethylene adipamide is mixed with a mixture of didocylamine, ditetradecyl amine, dioctyl amine, didecylamine and dioctadecylamine. The products of the examples are spun into filaments, granulated and moulded into combs.
