Abstract
1289642 Evaporators, flash type; desalination of water SOC ITALIANA RESINE SpA 13 April 1970 [15 April 1969] 17488/70 Heading B1B An evaporator, suitable for the desalination of sea water, is housed in an elongated box-shaped casing 1 divided by two vertical longitudinal baffles 2 into a central evaporation zone 7 and two lateral condensation zones 8, each provided with condenser tubes 5 extending throughout the length of the casing; the evaporation zone is divided in a series of flash chambers by transverse vertical baffles 9 with rectangular openings 4 for the flow of liquid, and the longitudinal baffles 2 are associated with droplet-filters 3 through which the vapours evolved in the flash chambers flow into the condensation zones. The sea water enters the first flash chamber through fitting 11 which may be of the sluice-gate type.
