Abstract

1289128 Gas turbine engine combustion equipment JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd 25 June 1970 [28 March 1969] 16410/69 Heading F1L The invention relates to gas turbine engine combustion equipment in which the flame tube comprises a skirt formed at the joint of two sheet metal elements which form part of the wall of the flame tube. The flame tube shown is of annular form and comprises elements 10, 11 which are welded together where they overlap, the element 10 being formed with an extension which is joggled so as to form an inwardly displaced flange 12. A metal strip 14 is secured to the flange 12 and constitutes the skirt. The flange 12 and the wall element 11 define a space 13 into which air may flow through openings 17. Similarly the skirt 14 and the wall element 10 define a space 15 into which air may flow through openings 16. In Fig.2 the end-wall 111 is joggled to define the flange 112 and the skirt 114 is formed by a strip secured to the flange.
