Abstract
1288989 Pontoons; floating docks MITSUI SHIPBUILDING & ENG CO Ltd 19 Nov 1970 [24 Nov 1969] 54961/70 Headings B7A and B7S A pontoon has side tanks 5, 6 and end tanks 1, 2 cross connected by pipes 3, 7, and pumps 4, 8 to permit the horizontal attitude of the pontoon to be adjusted; and a centre tank 9 which can be flooded to regulate draft. Side buoyancy tanks (16) can be provided so that two pontoons can be used to align ship sections which are to be interconnected (Fig. 4, not shown). Water level sensors (Fig. 5, not shown) are located in the buoyancy tanks and connected to a self-levelling control mechanism.
