Abstract

1288713 Boring bar SANDVIKENS JERNVERKS AB 2 March 1971 5809/71 Heading B3C A boring bar insert 15 comprises a cutting tool 19 with a screwed shank 20, an adjustment sleeve 18 screwed to the shank and having spaced portions 32, 33, provided with slots 35 which allow relative axial movement between the portions to eliminate back lash, a bushing 16 adapted to be secured to a boring bar by screws 17, the bushing also having portions 24, 25, with alots 27 to eliminate back lash, bushing 16 and sleeve 18 being connected by balls 43. A carbide tip 22 is clamped or brazed to the tool shank, and the sleeve and bushing are calibrated at 40, 41, to assist in setting the cutting diameter. The end 31 of the tool shank is in non-circular engagement with an aperture 30 in the bushing 16.
