Abstract

1,217,317. Reamers. JAMES ARCHDALE & CO. Ltd., and BROOKE TOOL MFG. CO. 12 Aug., 1968 [7 Aug., 1967], No. 36128/67. Heading B3C. A gun reaming tool comprises a stepped generally cylindrical body 10, a solid tip at the end of the smaller diameter body portion 12 having a cutting edge 14 and a bearing portion 15, further cutting means 17 and bearing means 18 adjacent the step for operating on a larger diameter bore and a longitudinal lubricant supply passage 19 for supplying the cutting and bearing means. The lubricant passage 19 is connected by generally radial bores to external lubricant grooves 20, 21, 22 and 23. In a modification the cutting and bearing means 17, 18 are replaced by a sleeve which has a cutting edge and a bearing portion and is brazed to the body portion 12 adjacent the step.
