Abstract

128,860. Finn, J. Jan. 24, 1919. Platelayers' tools and appliances.-A platelayer's appliance, used in sets of three, has means for indicating cant or inclination, gradient or level, and curvature. The main member 2, Fig. 1, carries rail gauges 3 and a level 5 hinged at 6 and secured by a screw 16 on a curved scale 8 indicating the cant. Each member 2 also has a post 4, and one post is provided with a sliding post 10 reading to a scale 11 on the post 4 to indicate gradient or level. Each post 4 has a sighting-pin 13, and one post carries a detachable frame comprising an upright 18, Fig. 4, and a hinged horizontal bar 21, the pin 13 in this case being movable into holes 24 on a scale to indicate curvature.
